We’re excited to announce that we’ve submitted a grant proposal to the Knight Foundation’s 2010 News Challenge! The News Challenge is a yearly contest awarding funding to “innovative ideas that develop platforms, tools and services to inform and transform community news, conversations and information distribution and visualization.”
We envision Nonprofitmapping.org as a place where nonprofits, philanthropists and journalists can gather around innovative experiments in mapping and open data. In the wake of ’08/’09′s economic recession, there are many stories to be told about the state of the nonprofit community, about data, and about journalism itself. We hope to give some of those stories a starting place within a culture of open and free flowing data.
If you have a spare minute, we’d like to encourage you to review, rate and comment on our proposal.

There are some 650+ applications on the table, so your input will be invaluable towards helping ours get on the radar of this cutting edge new media & journalism funder!
Please note: the website will require you to create an account and login before you can rate or comment.
Thanks for your support, and do let us know how we can assist you and your organization with mapping and data visualization needs in 2010!
